Honor Flight set for October 13, 2015

Honor Flight of Mid Michigan has just formally announced that they have finally raised enough funds to have another flight out of Traverse City this year! The flight date is October 13, 2015.

There is NO COST for the veteran for this trip.

Concentration for the tour of honor is on WWII veterans and any terminally ill veteran but applications from Korean War veterans will also be accepted for this flight.

Each veteran will have a dedicated guardian to tour with for the entire trip. Guardians must complete a training session, be in good health, between the ages of 18 and 70 and pay their own way. The cost for a guardian is $500.00

Their web site has not yet been updated with the October flight information but general information and applications for veterans and guardians can be found at www.midmichiganhonorflight.com . They are also seeking funds to cover additional incidental expenses such as the food and bus transportation that is provided on the trip.

It should be noted that vets receive very special treatment on this trip. Many of these men are reluctant to sign up due to concerns about walking, bathroom issues, fear of flying, etc. I would be happy to connect anyone you know to a vet who has been on the trip who can reassure them that all of these concerns have been addressed with compassion and almost any vet who is interested can be accommodated.
